Centennial Livestock owns over 2,500 quality Black Angus cows with a strong Hereford base. We breed to top quality, Montana bred, Black Angus bulls. Stevenson Basin, Sitz Angus, and the Vermillion Ranch are among our bull providers.
When the calves are weaned in the fall flexible and plentiful feed allows the ranch to sell steer calves or yearlings - depending on the optimal market time. We sell our cattle private treaty. When market prices are low we are able to place our calves in our ranch feedlots until the market improves. We retain our heifers and breed through artifical insemination. Our heifers start calving in late February. Cows start around March 20th. We replace around 20% of our ranch herd every year. We sell our remaining bred heifers both locally and to the out-of-state market.
